Surgery and Dentistry

During your pets surgical and dental procedure there are safety measures we like to offer and take as a mandatory precaution.  We recommend performing pre-anesthetic blood tests for all pets of all ages.  There are two different types of blood work we offer depending on the age of your pet.  A smaller panel of blood work is recommended for pets under the age of 8 years.  A more comprehensive panel of blood work for those 8 years and older.  Here is a mandatory list of precautions we take at all times:

· We give a pre-op sedation to minimize anxiety.

· We electronically monitor their heart rate and blood oxygen levels throughout the procedure.

· We use isoflurane inhalation anesthetic, which is not metabolized by the liver and kidneys, ensuring a quick recovery from its effects.

· Give pre-op pain medication that last 24hrs.

· Provide lots of TLC and attention!

Surgery

We are well equipped to perform all routine surgeries for your pet (ex. Spay, castration, etc.)  We also perform a wide range of non-routine surgeries and if needed we can provide a referral to an appropriate specialist for your pet.  Please see the information above for more details regarding the safety measures our team provides.

Most pet will eventually need a professional dental cleaning using an ultrasonic scaler, such as your dentist might use, then we polish the teeth to reduce the recurrence of tartar buildup, and use a subgingival lavage with chlorhexidine solution to flush and kill bacteria.  Having a professional dental cleaning for your pet can greatly increase their quality of life.  Please see information above regarding the safety measures our team provides
